Hello Interweb’s,
Welcome back, and thank you for everyone’s support throughout 2017, going into 2018. It was a choppy Q4 to say the least, and MHC Promotions is very pleased to enter the new year with amazing prospect’s that have become full fledged projects for this year. We kick off the new year with: The Legionnaire (A visit to Post 14 in San Bernardino, CA) The trip entailed a tour of the facility, it’s history and heritage. It also allowed us to catch up with our great friend and post 14’s post commander Robert “Gunny” Nowosielski.

Post 14

Post 14 of The American Legion is located in San Bernardino nearing the downtown district on D Street (Full address and Phone info can be found on Legion.org or google maps) The post is one of the oldest and part of the original post’s to be commissioned on March 15th of 1919. The American legion is part of the oldest and longest running organization’s that help out veteran’s, their families and the community at whole.
Through my personal friendship and connection with their Post commander, I was granted access to enter in order to capture their history, legacy and share this experience with you, the reader. Enjoy an excerpt from my memoir and media to accompany this narrative.
7:30PM (1/23/18) – It was a cold and dark winter night in San Bernardino, CA. The air was cool/crisp as I straightened my jacket, cleared my messages and wrapped up my phone call with a friend in need. I approached the tall black reinforced double doors of Post 14 of The American Legion.. It is my first article of 2018 and marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life. A new chapter the I have been working so hard to reach, over the past few years. I reach for the handle and open the door. The post commander is addressing the legion’s order of business for the month of January. I take a few steps forward and the legion’s members look up in silence. The post commander finishes his sentence, turns to me, smiles and shows me to his quarters.

While the post commander returns to conduct their meeting, I am allowed to roam the facility and take in the heritage of the legion overall. But also, the contributions of Post 14 and their collective legacy.
As I make my way through the many hallways, I find an interesting and revelating notion fill my senses. (“We may stand alone as individuals, but we stand together in life.)

Women Of The American Legion Auxillary
– I absorb the rich history of Americanism & am reminded of our prevailing unity of the US of A.
– By the time I ended my self-guided tour of the facility, the legion meeting came to a close. The post commander was ready to talk to MHC Promotions. Please enjoy the following audio recording.

Guided Tour
Once our conversation came to a close “Gunny” gave me a personal guided tour of the main hall and shared some insight into the history of the post itself.
Prologue
In closing, no matter the situation or struggle one may be going through, it is never to late to reach out and be heard. Even if only to speak to get something off your chest, there are people who care and are willing to support you. Maybe their support is limited to simply listening, but you made it that much further in life and maybe that’s just enough time to work out your problem. Perhaps? Perhaps we miss the bigger picture when we turn down an opportunity that time/space or the natural order of thing’s..what-have you brings into your world. For a “Legionnaire” stands tall and stands taller when there is no one left standing.
